Descent: Journey to the Underworld

Descent is a roleplaying game in which two heroes undertake a journey to the land of the dead. Each step of the way, they’ll face challenges and trials that test their trust in each other, reopen old wounds, and drag them ever deeper into the abyss. Will you and your partner be able to successfully navigate the underworld, overcome your dreaded foe, and return with a balm for the living? Or will you be lost and ensnared in what lies beyond the mortal realm?

Descent is a collaborative storytelling RPG for two people. Neither player has total control of the story, as both players are equal parts protagonist and author (there is no GM). Descent provides a framework for the journey, giving each player a clear set of motivations to choose from and a collection of scenes to build their story around. Each turn, the players will narrate a scene that grows out of the prompts provided to them, and will work with their partner to push deeper into the Underworld. Players will take turns framing scenes and describing the challenges therein. At the end of their tale, the players will reflect upon their choices and actions throughout the journey, and will face their final challenge: their duel with the Foe.
